Churches Together in South Tyneside is a registered charity, dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged and lonely people. Churches Together runs three successful projects

  • Happy at Home – a project that responds to the needs of the elderly in the community to increase well-being and reduce loneliness
  • Nurturing Dementia – a project that responds to the needs of people living with dementia and their carers in the community to increase engagement, empathy and empowerment
  • Street Angels – a project that responds to the needs of people in the community and night time economy of South Shields to increase well-being and safety

In addition, we work with Key Community, in a project called Key to Life, which aims to alleviate poverty. It includes a Food Bank, holiday food and programmes, a pre loved School Uniform Exchange, a vast Christmas Appeal, as well as general support and signposting for those in crisis.

Churches Together in South Tyneside promotes religious harmony and good relationships, knowledge and mutual understanding and respect for persons of different faiths and their beliefs and practices. We are active members of the South Tyneside Faiths Forum.

We are a small organisation whose people are the key to our success. We have ambitious plans for our future and for these we need a person that is passionate about the work that we do, who understands our values and mission, who will work with us to grow our services across South Tyneside.

In 2024 we carried out research into loneliness and isolation experienced by older people in South Tyneside and this has gained recognition locally, regionally and nationally. It has also been shared internationally. Further dissemination is planned for 2025.

To support us in our activities, we are seeking an experienced person to collaborate with our Trustees, Project Leaders and creative talented teams on the delivery of our programmes, to ensure that project targets are achieved and that our service provision continues to meet our high standards and the needs of our beneficiaries and stakeholders.

You will have experience and a track record in performance and people management and will work alongside the Trustees to support the development and growth of the charity. You will have the ability to be innovative and creative in your approach, and the people skills and confidence to motivate the current team of 5 staff and our volunteers to exceed expectations in delivering our services.
